BRIAN CAULFIELD

CHAIR OF THE ACTION

Professor Brian Caulfield leads University College Dublin’s Connected Health Programme. He is the Lead Investigator in Ireland’s industry led Connected Health Technology Centre, ARCH and is a Director of Ireland’s largest research centre, the INSIGHT centre for Data Analytics, where he leads the Connected Health research programme.

A physiotherapist by training, Brian is also Dean of Physiotherapy at UCD. Brian is a champion for a Connected Health ecosystem in Ireland and has forged strong relationships with key clinicians, industry leaders, policy makers and research groups to drive advances in the field. Previously, he was a PI in the CLARITY Centre for Sensor Web Technologies (www.clarity-centre.org) and Director of the TRIL Centre (www.trilcentre.org), a research centre focused on technologies for independent living, which was funded by GE and Intel. As well as these companies, he has worked with a range of multinational and start-up companies such as BioMedical Research Ltd, Fujitsu Laboratories, and Shimmer to deliver innovative technology enabled solutions for areas such as rehabilitation medicine, COPD, and gerontology. His research has led to significant commercial opportunities in terms of exploitation of intellectual property by industry partners and spin out activity.

ILYA ŠMORGUN

LEADER OF ‘TECHNOLOGY ASSESSMENT’ WORKING GROUP

Ilya is enrolled in the Tallinn University Information Society Technologies doctoral program with his research focusing on the design of distributed user interfaces. His research interests include interaction design, ubiquitous computing, and mobile devices.

Ilya holds a BSc degree in Computer Science and a MSc degree in Interactive Media and Knowledge Environments by Tallinn University. He has taught several bachelor and master level courses including Concept Mapping and Prototyping, Mobile Interactions, Experimental Interaction Design, Usability, Accessibility and User-Centered Design, Ubiquitous Computing, and Developing Interactive Systems.

Ilya has been working as a usability specialist at the Estonian Information System’s Authority focusing on designing new e-services for the Estonian State Portal eesti.ee as well as conducting usability and accessibility evaluation of existing state developed web sites and e-services. Currently he is working as a lecturer in Tallinn University’s School of Digital Technologies.

Ilya is a member of international cooperation projects COST ENJECT TD1405, COST AAPELE IC1303, and COST ENERGIC IC1203. His role in COST action ENJECT TD1405 is leading Working Group 2 on Technology Assessment.

VINCENT MANGEMATIN

LEADER OF ‘BUSINESS & REVENUE MODELS’ WORKING GROUP

Vincent Mangematin is Professor of strategic Management and scientific director at Grenoble Ecole de Management (France). His research stands at the intersection of Strategic Management and Innovation.

He focuses on emergent phenomenon and on the transformative influence of digital technologies in the society. In the recent years, he has been focusing on business models as an approach to renew strategy. He is recognised as a stimulating scholar on topics related to innovation and emergence. He is associate editor in Technovation and M@n@gement. He is serving in the Editorial board of Organization Studies, Research Policy and Technological Forecasting and Social. MINNA ISOMURSU

LEADER OF ‘STANDARDS OF CARE’ WORKING GROUP

PhD Minna Isomursu is a professor of Information systems specializing on Human-centered development and utilization at University of Oulu. Her work examines value co-creation of digital services in various domains, including health and retail.

Minna is especially interested of evaluating the subjective experience of value. In ENJECT, Prof Isomursu leads work package ”Standards of Care”, and is a management committee member.

IOANNA CHOUVARDA

LEADER OF ‘ECONOMICS & IMPACT’ WORKING GROUP

Ioanna Chouvarda, Electrical Eng PhD, is Assistant Professor in Medical Informatics in the School of Health Sciences at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. She has been involved in medical informatics research with a focus on biomedical data analysis and management and the generation of eHealth systems and services for the last twenty years. She has authored or co-authored numerous publications in the field.

She is particularly interested in the added value of Connected Health technologies in chronic disease management and prevention, as well as the knowledge discovery from physiological and behavioural data and their interplay.

In her work, she has collaborated with numerous European research teams within EU projects (AEGLE, WELCOME, PATHWAY, ACT@SCALE, HEARTCYCLE, ACT, …) .

She is member of the IEEE and Associate Editor in Computer Methods and Programs in Biomedicine.
